Powerhouse Restaurant and Bar
Built in 1911, the Powerhouse building, a Beaux Arts brick and terra cotta landmark, once housed boilers and generators that provided power to the Chicago Northwestern Railroad terminal. In 2007 the adaptive re-use development, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, restored the structure, including the 233’ smokestack, as well as created an upscale urban setting for the Powerhouse Restaurant and Bar.

PARACHIN’s design for the white table cloth restaurant and separate bar & grille is a respectful response to the historic structure and aligns with the dining experience of a classic American cuisine concept. The arrangement of richly upholstered booths in the long narrow main room provides intimate dining enclaves and pays homage to the glory days of train travel.
