flying as a flock of geese
HMSHost - Skybird Center
Under an aggressive schedule, the Client (HMSHost, the airport concessionaire) was asked to create a new $5 Million Skybird Conference and Business Center at OíHare Intíl Airport. The Chins assembled a group of highly skilled partners to design, draw, permit, bid and construct the first phase of the project within 6 months and the ultimate completion in 14 months. Team members included: HMSHost, Turner Construction, ESD Engineering, Schuler Shook, Shiner & Associates and The Structural Group.

Unlike the traditional architectural project model placing the architect as the leader in the project team, the respective partners established a highly collaborative pattern, like geese taking turns leading the flight for optimum efficiency in the execution of this project. All aspects of design, engineering, project estimating, procurement and construction were conducted in a collaborative pattern, allowing each team to take the lead as appropriate.
